I’m a hotel-hopper, a hotel-lover, and a hotel-explorer – and I feel lucky every day that I get to experience cool boutique hotels and write about them. This time, I feel extra-fortunate because I get to give a shout-out to one of my new favorite hotels, The Picasso boutique hotel in Manila, Philippines. Anywhere else, you’d pay double for the comfort and amenities I found here. The hotel has a smooth, clean, and artistic feel, but it’s also uber-comfortable, and that’s a home-run for me! The hallways are filled with antique lighting and amazing art, and they make you feel like you’re staying in a small museum. The rooms are spacious, the bathrooms are open and beautifully functional, and the beds are really comfortable. As you know, I love hotels – and everything about this hotel is perfect, especially considering the reasonable price.
As they say in real estate, it’s all about Location, Location, Location! If you’re staying in Makati for business (or just some R and R), The Picasso is an ideal spot. You’re just five minutes from the Glorietta Shopping Complex and just five minutes from Greenbelt 5, which is wall-to-wall nightlife, shopping, and restaurants. Speaking of restaurants, you can find an exquisite meal at Pablo on the hotel’s first floor – choose from a fantastic breakfast, lunch, or dinner menu. I took the opportunity to have a meeting and grab a few drinks here, and I even took a moment to enjoy the patio for some people-watching. You can even burn-off your calories at the hotel’s split-level gym and spa – it’s open every day just in case you overindulge!
Top-notch service is what it’s all about at The Picasso. I had a real “moment” when the Bellman (I wish I had gotten his name) actually removed his shoes to bring my luggage into my room. I had never seen that before, and I’ve experienced thousands of hotels! In fact, the service team is so attentive that the Doormen don’t even let you touch the door – they’re always there first. The front desk is a great resource for directions, cars, and anything else you might need.
For those of you making your visit an extended stay, you have the convenience of a quick and cheap Panda laundry service across the street. Plus, behind the hotel is one of the best ramen shops in Makati, in case you need a quick meal. Within one to two blocks, you have everything from banks to money exchange stations to coffee shops at your disposal. Happy errand-running!
The Picasso in Manila is all about a five-star experience at a three-star price, and I’m living proof they mean it! I tip my hat to the staff and management of this unique boutique hotel – the service was impeccable, the room was fantastic, and the quality exceeded my expectations at every turn!
